| Edwards Adjustable Recoil Reducer
The Edwards Recoil Reducer® design is based on a piston, suspended between 2 springs of unequal ratio, being placed in motion by the reward movement of recoil. The recoil of the rifle or shotgun drives the piston forward due to its inertia against the strong spring which then returns the piston to its normal position. The piston is exerting energy forward within the gunstock the entire time the spring is being compressed by the piston and then driven back by the spring. This counteracts and slows the rearward force of recoil.
The Adjustable Recoil Reducer is designed to install in a one-inch hole. In concert with the recoil reduction of the piston action, the unique adjusting cams allow for a percentage of recoil to be directed away from the shooters' face or shoulder. So if cheek slap is a problem you can adjust it for a more straight back recoil. If recoil to the shoulder is a problem you can adjust it away from the shoulder. These adjustments also customize recoil for a right or left handed shooter. While all recoil to both target areas is reduced, this feature allows for an even greater reduction of the felt recoil. This unit is offered in 4, 3 1/2 and 3 inch lengths to fit virtually any gunstock. The 3 inch model is for the hardest to fit gun stocks that don't have much room inside.
Installation is done by simply drilling a 1" diameter hole to the right depth in the gunstock parallel with the comb of the stock. Instructions are included with reducer. Can be installed by gunsmith or by the do it yourself shooter who is familiar with wood working. Adjustable models are only recommended for solid wood stocks. For synthetic/hollow stocks, non-adjustable models are recommended.
In cases where recoil is severe, we recommend installing one adjustable unit with one non-adjustable unit for optimum recoil control. A single reducer normally provides approximately 30% reduction in recoil. A dual installation of one adjustable and one non-adjustable reducer normally provides approximately 45-50% reduction in recoil. Available in 3", 3 1/2" and 4". The 3" model weighs approximately 5.5 ounces. The 3 1/2" model weighs approximately 6.5 ounces. The 4" model weighs approximately 7.5 ounce. * Note the 3" model gives less recoil reduction than the 3 1/2" or 4" model and is designed for stocks that do not have sufficient room for a longer reducer. |
