| GraCoil Shotgun Compression Plate
The GraCoil is a compression butt plate for recoil reduction with an adjustable tension setting and adjustable pad plate, made to fit any shooter’s style. The Spring Tension of the system can be adjusted from 14 lbs. to 70 lbs. of recoil allowing the shooter to easily tune the system for optimal performance with his or her gun and load. The GraCoil has a maximum stroke of 5/16”, producing a response time hardly detected, with no distractions between shots. This was determined by the manufacturer to be the optimal compression length in order to get effective recoil control without causing too much movement in the gun or too much cheek sliding on the stock which could distract the shooter between shots. The pad plate can be adjusted up or down, side to side and for cant with plenty of adjustment to customize fit to the shooter for maximum comfort. Moving parts are stainless steel and slide on Teflon liners for a perfectly smooth, trouble free motion. Plates are aluminum. Requires very little maintainance. For rifles with recoil equal to or less than a .30-06, the standard shotgun model is preferred due to spring tension levels. For heavier recoiling rifles, the GC15R rifle model should be used.
This system adds 1 inch to overall stock length and length of pull. If same length of pull is desired, the stock must be cut to account for the length of this system. Aluminum mounting plates and pad plates come oversized so they can be ground down to match the customer's stock. The recoil pad is then also ground down to match the pad plate. For wood stocks, three holes will need to be drilled in the back of the stock in order to mount the system. For synthetic stocks, a metal mounting plate will need to be fitted to provide a strong mounting platform. Gunsmith installation is recommended.
You have the option to add a Kick-EEZ recoil pad to your GraCoil order. Simply use the drop down boxes to select the type of recoil pad and the size. If you do not wish to add a recoil pad, please select "I do not wish to add a recoil pad at this time" in both drop down boxes. Kick-EEZ pads were selected for their superior recoil absorbtion and anti-bounce characteristics. Several models are available such as general purpose, sporting clays, trap, etc and in varying thicknesses (1/2", 3/4" 15/16" and 1 1/8"). Due to the effectiveness of the system, you can use a thinner recoil pad than would normally be needed.
